Sorry, no pictures, and not even that great a recipe - but it was really good!
3 carrots
9 baby dill pickles
1 clove garlic
1" of raw horseradish root
1 can of tuna
mayonnaise
Toss the carrots and garlic in your food processor - process until the carrots are about half broken up. Toss in the pickles, process until fine (about 1-2mm chunks?). Remove the outside of the horseradish, use your microplane to grate it into the bowl. Drain and add the tunafish. Break up the tunafish, mix well. Add mayonnaise until it's the consistency you like (I like mine dryish, I use about 2T.)

I live in the Piedmont of NC. I got three Yaupon Holly trees from an online mail order source in the first part of October. After they arrived I couldn't get them in the ground for about 4 days.
I thought I did the right things planting them, dug a hole significantly bigger than the modest root ball (these guys are only about a foot tall) and used new bagged topsoil to fill it up. Watered every three days unless it rained (which it has been, quite a bit, but they are on the top of a slope so I expect drainage isn't much of an issue) for the first 2 weeks they were in the ground.
Now their leaves have turned a nice red brown and have fallen off and I expect they are dead.
Any suggestions as to what went wrong?

Do you guys happen to know of any good, reasonably priced murder mystery dinner party actors to book for a company holiday party? I work for a company with 40 employees, but our budget for our entire party is pretty slim. One idea tossed around was to do a murder mystery party at a restaurant - just hire a couple of actors and get some of our staff involved.
So please lemme know if you know!
Alternatively, it would be super awesome and make my heart sparkle if you could give me some other awesome ideas for a fun holiday party. Apparently, they did karaoke last year and it was a hit, but we're not doing it two years in a row. :*(

To keep this post on-topic, here's a photo of my "lethal" cranberry sauce:
Recipe is quite simple: cranberries and cranberry-flavored Jell-O made with the traditional Jell-O shot method. I buy a fifth of vodka and then enough Jell-O mix and cranberries to make a couple batches. Sometimes I will add a little sugar. It makes holiday gatherings with the family much more tolerable!
Anyway, on to my real point of making a post tonight: has anyone successfully done a fried turducken??? I have googled it but I am sure some of us food pornstars have some great advice. I also welcome advice on preparing an oven-cooked turducken but I really want to try deep frying it. Thanks.

Yesterday I fell down the stairs in the subway (downtown 6 train at 77th St.) and my 3 week old iPhone (3GS) was in my back pocket. The screen shattered and you can see where the point of impact was (i.e., where my butt/iPhone met the stair). Luckily the phone still works but you can only see the top half of the screen so it's not usable. (I would probably have glass shards embedded in my skin if not for the screen protector!)
I stopped by the Apple store and they said it would be $199 to fix the screen; Tekserve estimated it would probably be around $149 to fix.
I checked with my credit card company and there’s no warranty for purchases that break due to accidents. And of course, broken screens aren’t covered by Apple Care. It also wouldn’t be covered by my renter’s insurance.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for fixing it that would cost less than the two options above? I don’t want to fix it myself, I watched a couple of videos of that and don’t want to mess with it. Since it’s so new I obviously want to use an authorized service center so that I don’t void the warranty.
Here's my phone:
Issue 2: I fell down a flight of wet stairs inside the subway. I doubt that I would have fallen otherwise. Is MTA liable for any of this? I got injured, missed a day of work, and had to go to the hospital to get x-rayed (thankfully nothing is broken but there is major swelling and internal bleeding) and heavy duty pain meds. My weekend plans are also shot since I shouldn't sit for more than an hour at a time according to the doc.
Fortunately I have insurance which will cover the majority of the ER visit but I'm out the $ that I would have earned had I gone to work today as well as the $150+ that it's going to cost to fix my iPhone (along with the cost of my insurance co-pay and medication). I've stated the process to file a complaint with the MTA. Does anyone have any experience with this and/or any advice as to how I should proceed?

Hi All,
So I just moved out of my parents house yesterday, and into my first new apartment in LIC. We spent the day disassembling, assembling, packing, unpacking and rearranging into the wee hours of the afternoon. Needless to say, I was super excited to be moved into my first apartment in NYC yesterday.
The excitement soon wore off as I noticed unwelcome roommates residing in my apartment. Roaches. Three of them. While Ive lived in NYC my whole life (briefly stayed in Boston during college...but I remained a Mets fan throughout), I have a deep, almost Lovecraftian paranoia of the so called Palmetto Bug. Akin to taking a midnight stroll in Innsmouth, my sanity and rationality quickly dissipate once crossing these nimble scavengers. One will give me the feeling of unease, three paralyzes me with the utmost fear and disgust at natures more grotesque and almost comical creations.
Due to that surprise yesterday, I decided to stay at my girlfriends apartment which is devoid of all non-homosapien life (with the exception of a bunny, which in my opinion are much easier to kill, thus I have nothing to fear from this life form); a testament to mankinds triumph in the taming of the natural realm
My question is, is it normal to see this much roach activity during a first day move-in? Coupled with the live roaches, Ive found several dead ones as well (they are all small however, barely larger than my finger nails). A few people I talked to said that the fresh paint coupled with the old, holey floors are attracting the critters to our turf. I will be doing a thorough clean tonight and will set down traps and boric acid, but is this a case where little can be done and I might just have to get over my paranoia?

I am trying to get my Etsy page for my jewelry set up before the holiday shopping season is completely over, but my camera is old and the colors are always off. I am hoping to enlist the help of anyone here that happens to have a better camera and perhaps a lightbox or appropriate equipment. I live in Weehawken/Union City, New Jersey but am willing to travel to you. Send me a message or post a comment if you're interested.

I am getting rid of some of my furniture to make room for things my roomate is very attached to and would love to find them a good home.
I have:
1(one) Ikea MIKAEL desk- brand new as of 3 months ago. It's a little too big for my room so I am reluctantly letting it go. One of the supports cracked (because I, the 5ft2 girl, tried to lift it by myself. dumb) but is totally sound and secure with a little duct tape. It can be yours for $75- a good $40 off the original price.
1(one) solid wood side table given to me by my mother. It's a great table or nightstand and has two spacious drawers. I love it. I brought it with me when I moved here from CA I love it so much, but I'm minimizing and it needs some love. Yours for $80
1 (one!) adjustable metal bed frame full/queen sized. It has wheels. I have wooden holder things so it won't roll around on your floor and because of those (and wheels!) it won't scratch like post metal frames would.
1(one) 100GB Western Digital external hard drive. It's got a firewire connection, but if you don't have one of those on your computer a converter can be found for about $5. It's going for $15.
I am in Astoria and everything but the hard drive is pick up only. The hard drive I can deliver.
Thanks guys!
oh! if you want pictures or to get a hold of me you can message me or comment below.
all the best

I have 20 unopened, 60 min Sony DVC tapes. All but one are still in their packs, but the loose one is still in its wrapper.
I will give them all to you for $20.
I don't know if anyone still shoots on tape, but if you do, these would be a welcome addition to your... I don't know, camera? Shelf you use to impress people? Film supply closet?
Look, you do with them whatever you please. I won't judge.
These are particularly great for film students (especially if you're going to be using a DVX-100), but any amateur filmmakers (again, no judging) could benefit from the price + product.
Give these tapes a good home. IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE A MOVIE.
Thanks.

So, walking home just now there was wind and some shit flew into my eye. It REALLY hurt and I've been crying and flushing it out with water, and it's much better now. It only hurts a little, but I'm afraid there could be something still in there where I can't see it. What the hell should I do? I don't think it's worth it to go find an ER somewhere, that seems a bit excessive. My mom thinks I should go to an eye doctor, but finding one who'll take me tomorrow morning before work seems extremely unlikely. I'm in Astoria and need to be at work tomorrow at 10:00. Thoughts?? Is there a 24 hour clinic I could go to? Anyone know any eye doctors in Astoria? This is so freaking lame.
EDIT: So, it's about 2 hours later now and, after a few more tears, I no longer feel any pain. Thank you so much for your responses, you guys are great.

Does anyone have Metlife dental insurance?
I'm trying to look for a new dentist. If no one is familiar with this insurance, please recommend your own dentist and I'll look him/her up to see if in the provider network.
Thanks!

Ingredients: Parmesan Cheese
Yes, you can make crackers out of cheese!
Just sprinkle a wee bit of parmesan cheese onto some silpat, and microwave it for about a minute to a minute and ten seconds... Peel off the silpat, and let cool.
The cracker will be crispy and ready to jazz up any plate.
